History of Vam

Mexican firm "Vehículos Automotores Mexicanos" started designing the cars in 1946. The first time it was released under license machine "Willys-Overland" and "AMC", and carried the name "Willys Mexicana". In 1963 she moved under the control of the government, and entered into an agreement with American Motors Corporation for extension of the list produced under license brands.

Also, "Vehículos Automotores Mexicanos" has released several models of "Renault" (in the late 1980s, following the acquisition of a controlling Vehículos Automotores Mexicanos), "Fiat" and "Willys".

As a result of economic crisis in Mexico in the late 80s, Renault decided not to pull out of unprofitable production and closed factories "VAM".
